From spring until autumn, insects are everywhere. The buzzing and flittering get to be so commonplace we don’t pay that much attention to the activity around us — until it’s gone.
Last year we put out a bee hotel, which is a pile of logs with holes drilled in the ends. Different sizes. We got some leaf cutter bees. It was really hard to get a photo, but I got a couple, though I'm still not sure what the species were. And some were tiny bees going into hole of the smallest diameter drill we had. No idea what they were. But such fun.

At our last house I put a 'bug house' on the fence for the various ones that could sleep there.
