The lack of awareness of how our food is produced is frightening. I would like to see it as a course in both public and high schools. It could make many kids much more aware of the environment and how we are connected to it. I've met kids that have no idea that milk comes from cows or who think chocolate milk comes from brown cows - and that's just the beginning.

I agree, Yvonne. The lack of awareness is very frightening! Kids and adults are out of touch with the natural world. We need to be the voice to inform them. In small ways, a word here, an article there, we can make a difference.

Before you dig into the food heaped on your plate, think about what it would look like if the bees, ants, flies, butterflies and moths, birds and bats, beetles, and other pollinators disappeared. Our feast would consist of turkey and some rice or noodles.
